About hay.
Hay is forage that has been preserved by drying.
We mow our grass in the late morning & early afternoon to ensure that it contains the highest sugar levels possible, the grass is then left to dry (wilting) for 48 - 72 hours, increasing the dry matter content from 20-25% to 85-90%.
It is then baled and stored in a covered barn
The majority of the hay we make is in 8ft long square bales. We also offer 6ft bales that have been wrapped to maintain their goodness and are suitable for storing outside if space is limited.
Although we don't make them ourselves, we can also supply good quality 4 & 5ft round bales and traditional small conventional bales.
Our aim is to produce good quality food for horses, guaranteed, and at a sensible price.
